In 2022, Marius Szikszai (entrepreneur and booking & artist manager) and Minola
Szikszai (songwriter and performer of Royal Unknown Artist) wanted to offer the
people of Timișoara a cultural experience that would take them on a journey of
vibrant music and sounds. Thus, the project DISTRICT SONOR was born,
successfully bringing European artists from the realms of jazz, alternative rock,
and Balkan rock closer to the audience, connecting them with the music vibes and
creating memorable moments. Various locations along the Bega River became
cultural spaces for the local community.

The "District Sonor Soundscape" project takes the stage in Timișoara from July to September 2023.
Organized by District Sonor through the Operatiunea Zambet Association in partnership with Gigmit, Tomtix, Anturaj Timișoara, and Aquatim SA. The project is part of the Timișoara - European Capital of Culture program in 2023 and is funded through the BEGA program, conducted by the Timiș County Center for Culture and Art, with funds allocated from the state budget through the Ministry of Culture
“District Sonor Soundscape” incorporates a series of events that make use of the Bega Canal through musical art and the arts of the new digital era, such as digital graphic design, digital caricature, animations, and video projections. Thus, the project brings together diverse forms of artistic expression, transforming the urban environment into a district dedicated to creation and creators, inspiration, and art consumption.

Over the course of three weekends, in alternative spaces located along the Bega
Canal, between July 28th - 30th, 2023, August 18th - 20th, 2023, and September
1st - 3rd, 2023, national and European artists, tourists, and locals will have the
opportunity to discover the city's energy within this project, which is an open
invitation to all those who wish to step into a new sensorial, artistic, and cultural
dimension.
18 musical bands from Romania and Europe will take the stage at District
Sonor Soundscape.
The events start at 3:00 PM, and the audience will have the opportunity to
participate in creative workshops, with over 10 Romanian and European
multimedia artists participating in digital art exhibitions, digital graphic design,
animation, photography, and short video moving art.
Moreover, educational activities will be organized on online platforms, including
live interviews with graphic artists and musicians, as well as debates on current
cultural topics such as the impact of digitalization on events or artificial
intelligence in art.
